So 1483, king edward iv (fourth) is dying. He has 2 sons, edward jr (age 12) and richard. They are preparing for edwards coronation in the tower of london, when their uncle richard kills them. its like the lion king, scar kills simba because he wants to be king. anyway, richard becomes king and the 2 boys bodies were never shown to the public, so its uncertain what actually happened. but as these were a yorkist family, yorkists will support anyone who claims to be one of the princes.

His teacher, a priest called Symonds, thought he had a resemblance to the younger brother who was the prince in the tower, Richard. So he told him to claim to be Richard, Duke of York, and that he hadn’t died in the tower of London after all.

Symmonds took him to Ireland, a centre of Yorkist support, where they decided instead of being Richard of York he would be a different Yorkist claim to the throne, earl of warwick.
