A
-Boy of humble origin who pretends to be the Earl of Warwick (Clarence’s son who is in tower).
-He is tutored by Oxford trained priest in courtly manners and etiquette.
HVII suspected John De La Pole was behind it.
Supporters:
- Henry Percy, John De La Pole
- Margaret of Burgundy (EDIV Sister), she was determined to see HVII overthrown and her family back in power.
What Happened?
- Simnel invaded in 1487, Battle of Stoke
- Henry lacked support from greater nobles
- Although, Henry wins and parades the real Earl of Warwick around London to prove Simnel is a fraud.
- Merciful to Simnel, he is only young and seems unaware o plot, Henry gives him a job in the royal kitchens.

Cornish Rising 1497
A
- South protesting against having to pay taxes for troops used to defend North.
- Huge rebellion: 15,000 men march to London.
- Perkin Warbeck lands in Cornwall and rallies some of the rebels but is captured and imprisoned.
- The rising shows that southern nobles aren’t loyal to Henry because they don’t try and stop the rising.
- Rebellion defeated by HVII army at Blackheath

Warbeck:
- Happened 4yrs after Simnel but is considered more serious because of the foreign support.
- Claimed to be Richard, Duke of York (EDIV son)
- Margaret of Burgundy proclaims he is her nephew and coaches him, this gives him more credibility and support.
Supporters: At various times; -Margaret of Burgundy -Charles VIII of France -James IV of Scotland -Maximilian, Holy Roman Emperor -Phillip & Joanna of Burgundy
How Did It End?
- 1497: Arrested when he landed in England
- Locked in Tower of London with Real Earl of Warwick
- Warbeck and Warwick said to be planning escape, Executed.

Events
A
- Started by going to Ireland and impersonating Richard, Irish lords refuse to give support.
- 1492: Goes to France, Charles VIII receives him as prince.
- 1492: Henry and Charles sign Treaty of Etaples, agree to not harbour each other’s rebels.
- 1493: Forced to go to Burgundy, Margaret claimed he was her nephew.
- 1493: Philip takes control of Burgundy, HVII protests against him harbouring Warbeck, Phillip ignores and HVII imposes trade ban.
- Warbeck welcomes at court of HRE.
-1494: HVII spies uncover English traitors, Stanley executed 1495.
- 1495: Warbeck fails to land in Englan, goes to Ireland and is driven out.
- 1495: Flees to Scotland, Welcomed and James IV marries him to his cousin.
- 1497: Scotland signs Truce of Ayton with HVII, Warbeck forced to leave.
- 1497:Invades England, Captured and Imprisoned.

A
Invades because French help Warbeck.
- Took army of 15,000 men and laid siege to Boulogne.
- Turned into negotiation.
- HVII stopped supporting Brittany, received French pension, English/French trade improves.
