What are helminth infections?
Most are parasitic worms which infect the large intestine of humans.
What are the symptoms of threadworm infections?
Itching around the anus and vagina, loss of appetite, weight loss, sleep disturbance.
What are the symptoms of whipworm infection?
GI disturbances, colitis, bloody-diarrhoea.
What are the symptoms of hookworm?
Most people have no symptoms, severe infections may cause weight loss and anaemia.
What are the symptoms of roundworm infection?
High temperature, dry cough, worm in stools.
What is the common treatment for helminth infections?
Mebendazole, same dose for adults and children over two years. Often bought OTC as tablets or liquid preparations.
