Inspection for Heart
Supine, trunk elevated 30 degrees, stand on right side
Look for dyspnea, color, edema, pulsations, heaving, apical impulse
Palpation for Heart
Aortic Valve - 2 R
Pulmonary - 2 L
Tricuspid - 4 or 5 L
Mitral - 5 L
Percussion for Heart
- Left side (lat to med) 3, 4, and 5th intercostal spaces
2. Right side (sup to inf) right sternal border
Side of stethoscope for pitch and bruits
Low (bruit - stenosis)
Side of stethoscope for pitch and regurgitation
High (regurgitation)
Ascultation preference for Abdominal Aorta
Bell
Palpation preference for Abdominal Aorta
