Heart: Anatomy Flashcards
What are the four chambers of the heart?
1.) Two atria ( right atrium and left atrium )
2.) Two ventricles ( right ventricle and left ventricle )
Which side of the heart receives oxygenated blood?
Left side
What two chambers contain oxygenated blood?
left atrium and left ventricle
What two chambers contain deoxygenated blood?
right atrium and right ventricle
What structure separates the two sides of the heart?
Septum
What structures cover the atria’s?
Auricle
What are the functions of the valves within the heart?
Prevent blood from flowing backward
What are the two atrioventricular valves?
1.) Tricuspid valve
2.) Bicuspid/ mitral valve
What are the two semilunar valves?
1.) Pulmonary valve
2.) Aortic valve
Where is the semilunar valves?
Between ventricle and major blood vessels
Where is the atrioventricular valves?
between atria’s and ventricles
