Heart Flashcards
Heart
Muscular organ pumps blood through body
Circulatory system
Closed double loop
Pulmonary loop
Deoxygenated blood leaves heart
- travels to lungs, loses carbon dioxide and receive oxygen
- oxygenated blood return to heart
Systemic loop
Delivers oxygenated blood to rest of body
-then returns deoxygenated blood to heart
Right atrium
Collects blood from body
Right ventricle
Pumps blood to lungs
Left atrium
Collect blood from lungs
Left ventricle
Pumps blood to body
Atrioventricular valve
Located between atria and ventricles
Tricuspid valve
Separates right ventricle and pulmonary artery
Mitral valve
Separate left atrium and left ventricle
Semilunar valves
Located between ventricles and arteries
Pulmonary valve
Separates right ventricle and pulmonary artery
Aortic valve
Separates left ventricle and aorta
Pericardium tissue
Outermost protective layer of heart, contains lubricating liquid
