  • Holistic approach - Illness viewed as the result of many factors, rather than pathogens alone - Responsibility for health and illness lies on individuals and society rather than on the medical profession alone - Treatment considers all these factors as well

Transtheoretical/Stages of Change Model

A

Focuse son process of behaviour change

  1. Pre-contemplation - doesn’t perceive they have a problem, no intention of changing
  2. Contemplation - aware have a problem, know should make a change, not fully commited to the idea
  3. Preparation - intending to take action,, may have begun to act
  4. Action - change has happened (over months), change occurs in behaviour, environment or experience
  5. Maintenance - working to prevent elapse, in this stage if they remain free of problem for 6+ months
