World Bank - Facilitator of post war reconstruction and development, now committed to the alleviation of poverty
WTO - Goal is to help producers of goods and services, exporters and importers, to conduct their business
IMF - facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth , they do this through encouraging countries to accept FDI
UNESCO - to contribute to peace and security by promoting international collaboration through education science and culture to further universal respect for justice

What is the Corruption Perception Index ?
- it was produced by the NGO Transparency International
The Index measures the perceived level of public sector corruption and so is a qualitative measure
It was found that in 2015 68% of the 168 countries surveyed had serious corruption problems, which ultimately caused an estimated financial loss of over US$1trillion a year

- Among the Lebanese people it is said to be common knowledge that all major public offices suffer from corruption, which leads to the loss of vast amounts of public money
- A UN report in 2001 found that over 43% of companies in Lebanon ‘always or frequently’ pay bribes
What is the difference between direct and indirect intervention?
Direct intervention is sending troops and equipment to fight which inevitably leads to economic loss and loss of lives. An example of this is the 2003 Iraq war
Indirect intervention is providing economic or military assistance without sending troops, this is seen as a more desirable solution as it involves lower risks and costs
