they are stored in the body as glycogen and when we exercise it is broken down to glucose

simple - broken down quickly and provide quick energy
complex - release energy slowly

a good source of energy and certain fatty acids are good for health
what are the two types of fatty acids
saturated - too much of this increases risk of heart disease
unsaturated - much healthier and reduce risk of heart disease
what do vitamins do
an important rolein ensuring that vital chemical reactions take place
what are the types of vitamins
fat-soluble vitamins - stored in fatty tissue such as vitamin A and D
water-soluble vitamins - must be replenished everyday as they cant be stored such as vitamin C

essential in all bodily functions

indigestible parts of food and essential for healthy bowel function
helps your body absorb vital nutrients and remove waste products
