- he used a cool salve to treat gunshot wounds rather than boiling oil
- used ligatures to tie blood vessels rather than cauterising them

A
- medical professor who specialised in anatomy
- performed dissections on criminals

- wrote ‘ Fabric of human Body ‘ which he published in 1542
- accurate diagrams - pointed out some of galen’s mistakes
- no holes in septum of heart
- jaw was only made of one bone

- studied animal and human bodies

- found out the heart pumped blood around the body
