A

Someone who assumes responsibility for their and others wellbeing

18
Q

What items might be in your risk assessment?

What is a safe person?

A

Someone who assumes responsibility for the health and safety for themselves and those around them.

23

A

A protocol with dealing with risks – starts with eliminating the risk, then substituting the risk for something less risky, and ends with PPE.

24
Q

What is a risk assessment?

A

Assesses the hazards present in a situation and the likelihood of someone getting hurt.

25
What is a method statement?
Looks at how the risks will be mitigated and an operation will be carried out to be as safe as possible.
26
What other health and safety legislation have you been aware of during your career?
Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, Occupier Liability Acts 1957 and 1984, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
27
What do the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 say?
The occupier/person in control of the building must maintain a record of any asbestos present and any changes.
28
What do the Occupier Liability Acts say?
1957 Act – duty of care to anyone who could be lawfully accessing the building. 1984 Act – duty of care extended to anyone, including trespassers. Take steps to ensure reasonably safe.
29
How did your Health & Safety procedures changes during Covid 19?
Lockdown, no site visits for a while (UNTIL WHEN?), face masks, social distancing, hand sanitiser, no physical documents.
30
What risks were present on site at the office building in Stockport?
Covid-19 risks, plus stripped out site. Had seen RAMS which included asbestos (built 1992).
31
Why were the other elements in the hierarchy of risk control discounted?
Elimination of risk = either no viewing or video tour (no client budget). Substitution of risk = taking in small groups rather than large viewing.
32
What is your company lone working policy?
Full details in diary which colleagues can see. Charged mobile phone at all times.
33
Talk about the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Covers general fire safety relating to non-domestic property in England and Wales. Responsible person = employer/occupier. Regular risk assessments. Need for good record keeping (inc procedures).
