16
Q

Why do we need to protect our bodies?

A

Our clothing or hair could get stuck in machines, or could be harmed by chemicals, hot materials, spray from spray guns or from knocking our body against things, cutting and hurting us.

17
Q

How should you protect yourself whilst welding or brazing at a forge?

A

Wear a face-visor, a leather apron and gauntlets. Never pick up metal where it has been heat treated with bare hands, because it could appear dark and cool but can still be very hot.

18
Q

How and why should you protect yourself when using solvents?

A

Wear a breathing mask and latex gloves, and always spread solvent with a spatula. Solvents can give off toxic vapour and can be poisonous on your hand.

19
Q

How should you protect yourself when using chemical sprays?

A

Wear a breathing mask and latex gloves, turn on dust extraction systems and use spray in a spray booth to stop it getting to other places where it could harm others.
