Rectus capitis lateralis
O: Superior surface of the TP of atlas
I: Inferior surface of the jugular process of the occipital bone
A: Bilateral head flexion and unilateral head lateral flexion

Rectus capitis posterior major
O: Spinous process of axis (C2)
I: Lateral part of inferior nuchal line of occipital bone
A: Bilateral head extension
Unilateral head ipsilateral rotation
In: Suboccipital n. (posterior ramus of spinal nerve C1)
Rectus capitis posterior minor
O: Posterior tubercle of atlas
I: Medial part of inferior nuchal line of occipital bone
A: Head extension
In: Suboccipital n. (posterior ramus of spinal nerve C1)
Obliquus capitis superior
O: TP of atlas
I: Between superior and inferior nuchal lines of occipital bone (above insertion of rectus capitis posterior major)
A: Bilateral head extension
Unilateral head ipsilateral inclination and controlateral rotation
In: Suboccipital n. (posterior ramus of spinal nerve C1)
Obliquus capitis inferior
O: SP of axis
I: TP of atlas C1
A: Bilateral head extension
Unilateral head ipsilateral rotation
In: Suboccipital n. (Posterior ramus of spinal nerve C1)
Temporalis
O: Inferior temporal line of temporal fossa
I: Mandibular coronoid process, and anterior mandibular ramus
A: Ant. and middle fibres elevates mandible
Post. fibres retracts the mandible
In: Deep temporal branch of mandibular n. (CNV3)
Masseter
O:
Superficial part: maxillary process of zygomatic bone, Inferior border of zygomatic arch (anterior 2/3)
Deep part: inferior border of zygomatic arch (posterior 1/3)
I: Lateral surface of ramus and angle of mandible
A: Mandible protraction and elevation
In: Masseteric nerve of mandibular n. (CN V3)
