- She was the daughter of Umar ibn al-Khattab

When did the prophet send the proposal of marriage to Hafsa?
A
- Khunais took part in the battle of Badr in which he was martyred leaving no children.
- After the prescribed iddat(waiting) period, the Holy Prophet (pbuh) expressed his desire to marry Hazrat Hafsa to strengthen his ties with Hazrat Umar and his tribe.

- Revelation came after the honey incident where she told the prophet Muhammad his mouth didn’t smell good after eating honey.
- The prophet said that he would never eat honey again. Allah sends the revelation (66:01) and commands the prophet not to make anything unlawful for him which Allah has made lawful.
- After this, Hafsa went to the prophet and sought forgiveness
