What is the purpose of a hazard communication program?
Requires employers to inform employees of hazardous substances they are exposed to at jobsite
What size company is required to have a hazcom program?
Any size
Even if closed containers are exempt from hazcom, what is an employer still required to do?
Ensure labels aren’t removed/defaced, obtain and make accessible SDS, train employees on spills/leaks
Who is responsible for hazard determination?
Manufacturers, distributors, and importers
What is a hepatotoxin?
Damages liver

Damages kidneys
What is a neurotoxin?
Affects nervous system
What is a hematopoietic system toxin?
Affects blood
What are pulmonary toxins?
Affects lungs/respiratory system
What are hazcom program minimum reqs?
Labels, SDS, employee info and training, list of chems, methods for informing employees of non-routine tasks, hazards of chems in unlabeled pipes
How must chems be labeled?
Chem ID, hazard warnings, and and address of responsible party
When should employee training occur?
Initial assignment, intro of new chem/phys haz in their work area
