+ I have (something) or I’ve got (something) = IT IS MINE
+ We also use I have or I’ve got for:
a headache (a) toothache a pain (in my leg etc.) a cold (resfriado) a cough (tosse) a sore throat (dor de garganta) a temperature flu (gripe) etc
+ The past is I had (WITHOUT got) / I didn’t have / Did you have? etc.
…I have a new car. OR I’ve got a new car.
…Sue has long hair. OR Sue has got long hair.
…DO they HAVE any children?* OR HAVE they GOT any children?
… I have a headache. OR I’ve got a headache.
…DO you HAVE a cold?* OR HAVE you GOT a cold?
- note que o auxiliar DO é utilizado nas perguntas só com o HAVE, mas dispensado nas com HAVE GOT
…When I first met Sue, she HAD short hair.
…He didn’t have any money because he didn’t have a job.
…Did you have enough time to do everything you wanted?
+ In these expressions HAVE = EAT/DRINK/TAKE etc.
You CAN’T use ‘have got’
have breakfast
have a shower
have something to eat/drink have a meal
+ We also use have (NOT have got) in these expressions:
have a bath have a shower have a rest have a holiday have a party have a nice time have a good trip have fun have a walk have a swim have a game (of tennis etc.) have a dream have an accident have a baby have a look (at something)
