Any incident that may or may not be a criminal offence that is perceived by victim or anyone els as being motivated by hostility or prejudice

Actions of a reporting officer for a hate crime
- Reassure the victim, secure evidence, offer preventative advice and where necessary get help from trained officers
- beware of secondary victimisation and unplanned disclosure of sexual orientation
- Complete niche report before end of duty
- Ensure victim service page is completed
How to record a hate crime using pronto
- Select crime/non-crime
- For hate crime select correct offence on crime details page
- For hate incident select hate incident from non-crime drop list
- Within MO page start MO with either ‘hate crime’ or ‘hate incident’
- Qualifiers page select prejudice and select specific qualifier
