How does an LCD screen work?
It uses transistors and a thin film of liquid crystals to control light passing through the screen
Where are LCD screens used?
In laptops, digital cameras, smartphones and tablets
Advantages of an LCD screen?
- They are light
- They are compact
- They need little power
Disadvantages of an LCD screen?
- They may not be very bright
* They may cause eye strain over time
What is a TFT screen?
- A Thin Film Transistor screen
* It’s a type of LCD that uses lots of transistors to produce a high quality display
Advantage of a TFT screen?
They can display animations & 3D graphics more clearly that ordinary LCD’s
Disadvantage of a TFT screen?
They are much more expensive than ordinary LCD’s
Why are TFT screens used in desktops instead of Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) screens? (2)
- They take up less physical space
* They are less awkward to move around
