Handy Tidbits Flashcards
Way to remember emergency codes
“Hi, Jack. Can’t talk right now, we have an emergency”

LMCs-
When do we need to
A) lower flex by 1 degree?
B) complete a new load sheet?
C) do nothing!
A) when the change is positive, but less than 250kg or 2% CofG
B) if the change exceeds 2%, or more than 250kgs, OR if a TOGA take off is planned. In this case redo the load sheet using the new TO weight.
C) if the change is negative and less than 2% you can leave it.
Autolands. What are the main points regarding:
How to do them?
When to discontinue an approach?
To perform an Autoland, the AC must be flying an ILS.
Go around if:
Between 1000ft and DH:
We lose and AP, we lose CATII(3clicks), Alpha Floor activates (application of thrust due excessive alpha),Amber caution or Engine Failure.
At 350ft, if no land mode.
Between 200 and DH if AUTOLAND warning light comes on.
If NW steering failed, disengage AP at touchdown. If ANTISKID fails, DC AP at touchdown.
*if AUTOLAND warning comes on below DH and there are sufficient visual references, you can disc AP and land manually.
Regarding LMCs
- How heavy are bags international and domestic?
- How much do we take a cello to be?
- When do we update the MCDU?
- When can we not alter the flex? (Limitation per ac?)
- 11kg domestic, 13kg international
- 10kg can be assumed
- Update the MCDU at the earliest opportunity, generally in cruise or if time on ground
- Flex cannot be LESS than flat rated temperature- A319 ISA+30, A320 ISA+29.
What can you do if you lose comms?
If you lose comms through miss setting a freq, then either change back and ask again, or use the route section of the lido to find the correct freq. You may also listen out on 121.5 for calls, or call them on that freq.
- In the cruise, continue with the assigned flight plan. Squawk 7600. If in VMC, continue to the nearest suitable aerodrome.
For us in EZY and IMC, maintain the last assigned speed and level, or minimum flight altitude if higher, for a period of 7 MIN following:
–
the time the last assigned level or minimum flight altitude is reached; or
–
the time the transponder is set to Code 7600 or
-
the ACFT’s failure to report its position over a compulsory reporting point;
whichever is later and thereafter adjust level and speed in accordance with the filed flight plan;
land, if possible, within 30 MIN after the ETA specified in e) or the last acknowledged EAT, whichever is later.
The above information is found in the LIDO, GEN PT 1.9.1.3.2
Aerodromes also have specific info related to them for comms failures.
