Opponens Pollicis m.
(Deepest) (Thenar Compartment)
A: Flexor Retinaculum, Tubercles of scaphoid and trapezium to the lateral side 1st metacarpal
MVMNT: To oppose thumb , draws 1st metacarpal medially to center palm and rotates it medially
Nerve: Recurrent Branch of Median N.
Abductor Pollicis Brevis m.
(Lateral) (Thenar compartment)
A: Flexor Retinaculum, Tubercles of scaphoid and trapezium to lateral side of base of proximal phalanx of thumb
MVMNT: Abducts thumb , helps oppose it
Nerve: Recurrent Branch of Median N.
Flexor Pollicis Brevis m.
(Medial) (Thenar compartment)
A: Flexor Retinaculum, Tubercles of scaphoid and trapezium to lateral side of base of proximal phalanx of thumb
MVMNT: Flexes thumb
Nerve: Recurrent Branch of Median Nerve
Hypothenar Compartment:

Opponens Digiti Minimi m.
Palmaris Brevis m. (not primary)
Abductor Digiti Minimi m.
(Hypothenar compartment)
A: Pisiform to medial side of base of proximal phalanx of 5th digit
MVMNT: Abducts 5th digit and assists in flexion of its proximal phalanx
Nerve: Deep Branch of Ulnar Nerve
Flexor Digiti Minimi Brevis m.
(Hypothenar Compartment)
A: Hook of hamate and flexor retinaculum , to medial side of base of proximal phalanx of 5th digit
MVMNT: Flexes Proximal phalanx of 5th digit
Nerve: Deep Branch of Ulnar Nerve
Opponens Digiti Minimi m.
(Hypothenar Compartment)
A: Hook of hamate and flexor retinaculum to medial border of 5th metacarpal
MVMNT: Draws 5th metacarpal anterior and rotates it , bringing 5th digit into opposition with thumb
Nerve: Deep Branch of Ulnar nerve
** Palmaris Brevis m. **
(Hypothenar Compartment)
A: Flexor Retinaculum and Palmar aponeurosis to skin of hand
MVMNT: Tenses skin of palm on ulnar side and deepens hollow of palm, enhances grip by stabilizing skin of hypothenar eminence
COVERS AND PROTECTS ULNAR NERVE AND ARTERY
Nerve: Superficial Ulnar Nerve
Central Compartment:
