Hairy Cell Leukaemia
A
Rare malignant proliferation disorder of B cells.
More common in M (4:1)
Features:
- pancytopenia
- splenomegaly
- skin vasculitis in 1/3 patients
- ‘Dry tap’ despite bone marrow hypercellularity
- Tartrate resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) stain positive
Mx:
- Chemo = 1st line CLADRIBINE, PENTOSTATIN
- Immunotherapy = 2nd line RITUXIMAB, INTERFERON-ALPHA
