BM, blood, mononuclear pcytes
what cells are included under the term ‘lymphoid’
LNs, spleen, thymus, accessory tissues
what is the difference bw lymphoma and leukaemia
lymphoid leukaemia = neoplastic lymphocytes in BM and blood stream
lymphoma = neoplastic lymphocytes in tissue only (eg in Lnn)
why type of lymphoma responds best to tx?
B cell
what are the signs of lymphoma?
pain free, kg loss, lymphadenopathy, anorexic, exopthalmos (if retrobulbar lnn enlarged), d+ pos
what is the most common haematopoeitic tumour in dogs?
canine lymphoma
what tumour can FeLV cause?
lymphomas can be multicentric, alimentary or thymic. which is generally most common?
multicentric
name 3 types of bovine lymphoma
- enzootic = b cell.
- BLV = 3% develop lymphoma
- Sporadic = calf –> leukaemia; juvenile –> thymic; 2yo+ cutaneous forms
what breed of pig is predisposed to porcine lymphoma?
lrge white
what form of lymphoma do mares get?
subcutaneous
name 2 types of plasmacytoma
- cutaneous - benign
2. extramedullary - aggressive
where do plasma cell myelomas develop?
what does it cause
active bone
gelatinous mass replaces bone
pain, hypercalcaemia
what are histiocytes?
part of mononuclear pcytic system (eg no PMNs)
