Q

Manual and Mechanical guidance: advantages

A

> effective in early or cognitive learning (it corrects errors and helps learners learn the basic body positions)
give confidence
may encourage or motivate learners to take up or continue exercising
encourages correct proprioception / kinaesthesis or timing, enables learners to obtain a feel for the movement
increases safety in potentially risk activities

Q

Mechanical and Manual guidance: disadvantages

A

> not effective if too much help is given or if the support / aid is used for too long, as learner may become reliant on it
can limit proprioceptive / kinaesthetic experiences
learner must trust coach
learners may feel uncomfortable with proximity of coach
