Most common in kids
Decreased blood flow to kidneys
- diabetes, Dka, GI damage, hemorrhage,
Causes of intrinsic renal failure
Injury to renal parenchyma
Glomerulonephritis, acute tubular necrosis, pyelo, HUS, vasculitis
Findings in intrinsic renal failure
Hypertension metabolic acidosis high urine sodium proteinuria
Findings in pre renal failure
Hypotension low urine sodium metabolic acidosis
Causes of post renal failure
Obstruction to outflow tract Occluded catheter Neurogenic bladder Posterior urethral valves Trauma Tumors
Findings in post renal failure
Anuria
Increased bun and creatinine
Hyperkalemia hyperphosphatemia hypocalcemia
Renal failure tx
Manage underling cause Ionotropic or antihypertensive drugs Manage strict fluids May need diuretics May need crrt
Nephrotic syndrome
Damage to the glomerulous leading to structural changes resulting in albuminuria and proteinuria
Tx for nephrotic syndrome
Corticosteroids
