growth hormone Flashcards

drugs and hormones

1
Q

GH

A

metabolism; protein anabolic, glucose-sparing, lipolytic
from hypothalamus;
- GHRF, increases cAMP (Gs) > GH (promote by T3)
- somatostatin; decreased cAMP (Gi) > no GH

IGF-1, growth of tissue, has negative effect on the GH, positive effect on somatostatin

GH has negative effect on hypothalamus/GHRF

inhibiting GH, by inhibiting pituitary
prolonged duration of action compared to somatostatin
used in excessive production of GH
