A
Women aged 50-70 years

What are features of GTPS?
A
Pain over lateral side of hip/thigh
Localised tenderness on palpation of greater trochanter
Discomfort worse at night (can wake from sleep if lying on the affected side)
Systemically well

How can GTPS be differentiated from meralgia paraesthetica?
A
MP presents with paraesthesia/numbness, not pain

can show joint space narrowing but is otherwise normal
