Gradient🙄 Flashcards
1
Q
What is the Gradient of a Line?
A
- A measurement of the line’s steepness
- As we ascend a flight of stairs we undergo a horizontal shift
- A slanted line can also be seen to have a vertical rise & a horizontal shift
- A line with a greater vertical rise compared to its horizontal shift is steeper than a line with a greater horizontal shift
- A line with zero vertical rise is horizontal
-A line with zero horizontal shift is vertical - The Gradient or steepness of the line is the ratio of its vertical rise to its horizontal shift

Q
Gradient Equation
A
Gradient= vertical rise/horizontal shift
= y2 - y1/x2 - x1
