Q

Potential Energy (Types of Energy)

A
  • Potential Energy is the energy a body possesses due to its state or position
  • Gravitational Potential Energy is the energy a body possesses due to its height above the Earth’s surface
When we calculate potential energy we actually calculate Gravitational pe.
  • Ep= m(mass) g(gravity) h(height)
  • ^ (change in potential energy)Ep=
    m g ^h(change in height)
Therefore in Ep is dependent on change in height
  • If the body has no height above Earth’s surface then it has no Ep
  • If h=0, Ep=0

Q

Kinetic Energy (Types of Energy)

A

Kinetic Energy is the energy a body processes due to its motion
-Ek= 1/2 m(mass) v(velocity squared)
- Ek is dependent on the motion
Therefore velocity of the body
