Home government

- The british crown assumed responsibility for administration of india
- Created new office known as Secretary for state of India.
*The secretary was given powers of court of directors and board of control to exercise. - The secretary ins tate in council was also called as home govt. of india. Indian affairs controlled by this authority.

Dyarchy sysytem(division of authority between central and provices)

- The act introduced dyarchy system in provinces
- Divided provincial subjects in to two, i.e., reserved subjects and transfer subjects
- Transfer subjects:administered by governor and ministers who were responsible for provincial ministers
- reserved subjects: administered by governors and councilors

- Requirements: 10 yrs experience in crown, barrister of England or Scotland or Ireland or pleader in high court for less than 10 yrs standing.

A
- Governor generalbis to carry his functions with advice of his council
- Had direct contact with secretary of state of India and was considered as representative of king
- was chairman of council and makes rules for transaction of business in the council
- Was given several powers relating to provincial administration.
- Bill passed by provincial legislature was signed by Governor and required Governor general’s signature
