Establishment of courts
. The east india company established it’s own courts to administer justice under the areas it controlled
. Established it’s first court in madras and further expanded to Bihar,orissa and Kolkata
. These courts were introduced to handle commercial disputes between company and it’s employers or traders.

Regulations of charter acts
Further regulated charter acts passed by the British crown
. These charter acts established sadar diwali adalats, muffussil diwani adalats in Bihar, orissa, Kolkata with Muslim principles staffed with Muslim qazis and muftis.
Introduction of english law
The supreme court administered english law while indian laws continued to apply indian subjects
Expansion of judicial infrastructure
. Overtime , they expanded judicial infrastructure ,establishing magistrate courts,district courts and lower courts to handle a variety of legal matters
Adopting local laws
. Due to the confusion caused between english laws and local laws , the British included a few local systems and gave importance to to hindu and Muslim laws along with English laws
Powers of judges
. The judges were mainly british, but overtime they appointed indians as judges too.
Codification of laws
The British made efforts to codify indian laws leading to creation of codes like indian penal code, code of criminal procedure, code of civil procedure,etc..
