A
ciprofloxacin 500 mg orally as a single dose when antimicrobe susceptibility is known prior to treatment
If not then ceftriaxone 1g IM injection single dose

What is the alternative if a patient has an allergy, needle phobia or other contraindications?
A
gentamicin 240 mg IM as a single dose plus azithromycin 2 g orally OR cefixime 400 mg orally as a single dose plus azithromycin 2 g orally

Azithromycin 2 g as a single oral dose
