What criteria is used to determined if an unlisted incident (not listed in Annex A) requires notification?

Answer 1

The following should be considered:

(1) If the occurrence may reflect favorably or unfavorably upon the Department.
(2) If the circumstance may require administrative action at headquarters or direction by Executive Management.
(3) If the magnitude of the incident may necessitate the dissemination of information to allied agencies, governmental organizations, or news media.

• Field to Division as soon as practical
• Discretionary for Division to AC
• Comm-net within 24-hours
• Comm-net to OSR and CVS within 24-hours

How are significant weather conditions and/or highway emergencies which may adversely impact the safety of the motoring public, resources, or operations of
adjoining CHP Areas, allied agencies, or other state or local government organizations reported?

Answer 3

Shall be reported in the most expeditious manner possible (radio, telephone, cellular telephone, etc.) to the appropriate communications center.
