Gluteus Maximus
(O, I, A, N)
O:
-Posterior Iliac crest
-Sacrum
-Coccyx
I:
-Gluteal tuberosity of the femur
-ITB
A: -Extension and lateral rotation of the thigh at the hip joint.
-Upper 1/3 fibres: ABduction of the thigh @ the hip joint.
-Lower 2/3 fibres: Adduction of the thigh @ the hip joint.
-Posteriorly tilts the pelvis @ the hip jt. –Reverse action
N: Inferior Gluteal nerve
Gluteus Medius
(O, I, A, N)
O: External Ilium;
b/w Anterior & Posterior Gluteal lines
I: Greater trochanter of the femur
A:
-Abduction of the thigh at the hip joint (entire muscle)
-Ant fibers: Flexion and medial rotation of the thigh @ the hip jt. Anteriorly tilts the pelvis @ the hip joint.
-Post fibers: Extension and lateral rotation of the thigh @ the hip jt. Posteriorly tilts the pelvis @ the hip joint.
N: Superior Gluteal Nerve
Gluteus Minimus
(O, I, A)
O: External ilium; b/w Anterior & Inferior gluteal lines
I: Greater trochanter of the femur
A:
-Abduction of the thigh at the hip joint (entire muscle)
Piriformis
(O, I, A, N)
O: Anterior Sacrum
I: Greater trochanter
A: -Lateral rotation of thigh @ hip jt.
-With thigh flexed to 90 degrees:
Horizontal ABduction of thigh @ hip jt
N: Piriformis nerve
Superior Gamellus
(O, I, A)
O: Ischial Spine
I: Greater trochanter
A: -Lateral rotation of thigh @ hip jt.
Obturator Internus
(O, I, A)
O: Internal surfaces of the margin of the Obturator foramen
I: Greater trochanter
A:
Lateral rotation of thigh @ hip jt.
Inferior Gamellus
(O, I, A)
O: Ischial tuberosity
I: Greater trochanter
A: Lateral rotation of thigh @ hip jt.
Obturator Externus
