Ad lib
Improvisation by an actor when the normal progress of the play is disturbed

Lines spoken to the audience without the rest of the characters overhearing
Blocking
Process of arranging moves to be made by the actors in the play
Break a leg
A superstitious way of saying good luck
Characterisation
The act of creating a character which the actor must convey to the audience
Corpsing
When an actor collapses into uncontrollable laughter during a rehearsal or performance
Diction
The style of speaking of a character within the play
Gesture
Body or facial movement of a character during a play
Inflection
Pronouncing a word to stress its meaning
Mime
Communicating using only gesture, expression and movement

An actor who needs to refer to the script during a scene
Pace
The speed the dialogue is delivered to the audience
Pitch
The highness or lowness of the tone of voice
Projection
Using the voice loudly and clearly to ensure that the audience can hear

A master copy of the script containing all the movements and cues
