A
They don’t belong to any particular country

Why are businesses likely to set up factories in China or India?
A
Because labour is cheap and the health and safety regulations are not strict so they don’t cut into profits

Why do governments in China and India encourage westerners to build factories in their countries?
A
Because although wages are low on a western standard, they are still high in an eastern context, so this will help their economies grow.

Why is the UK a ‘consumer society’?
A
Because we buy cheap goods and throw them away, either because they are not built to last or because a better version has come out.
