A
- Events that might be shared around the word, rather than in one country alone. E.g. Global sports events and organisations
- Creation of sport into a worldwide business
- Required worldwide media coverage and freedom of movement of participants and spectators which created greater exposure of people to sport.
- Some athletes change nationalities to compete for a particular country. E.g. Sean Safo-Antwi – GB to Ghana
- Early 21st Century: African football players migrating to Europe or NZ rugby players migrating to Britain

Possible reasons for globalisation
A
- Better, faster and affordable transport
- Improved technology and the media raises awareness of players/athletes
- Global tours and competitions develops interest
- Financial incentives for clubs and players
- Freedom of movement → e.g. you can move to diff part of world to play sport + earn money → goes hand in hand with social mobility

- Athletes can ‘work’ abroad → (e.g. many premier league football teams have non-British players)
- Athletes can ‘train’ abroad → (e.g. altitude, warm weather training)
- Allows teams to tour → (e.g. football teams tour USA pre-season
- Can increase the fan base of a team internationally → (e.g. Manchester United fans everywhere in the world!)
- Allows regular international fixtures → (e.g midweek European fixtures in the UEFA champions league)
- Allows spectators to travel abroad and watch fixtures → (e.g. the Olympics)
