Globalisation
The process by which the countries of the world are becoming increasingly interconnected because they are gradually drawn into a single global economy.
Global economy
The economy (money) of all the humans of the world, considered as the international exchange of goods and services that is expressed in monetary units of account
Commodity chain
The sequence of stages in which companies exploit resources, transform them into products and distribute them.
In a nutshell: A pathway along which goods travel from producers to consumers.
International Monetary Fund (IMF)
Puts economic policies in place to prevent further financial crises. Keeps tabs on the global economy.
World Bank
Focuses on development and reducing poverty. It provides funding and resources in poorest countries.
World Trade Organisation
Facilitates negotiations and trading agreements. It makes sure that economic tensions don’t lead up to more serious confrontation.
