Global Core Periphery Model Flashcards
What does it show?
Shows the three main globalised cores in the world (North America, Europe, east Asia)
Shows the links between these cores (east/west) as well as the upward transition (north/south). E.g. Southern Africa, east Asia and Latin America + Australia
Downward transitions
Shows the downward transitioning areas where links are lessening, weakening (ex-soviet states, Brazil)
There is a lot of FDI and offshoring and outsourcing between the upward transitioning models and core models
Cumulative caversation
The effect of the links between the core and upward transitioning areas leading to increased growth of the core areas as the links increase
Resource frontiers
These are on the edge of this model in terms of links because they are much less developed and do not have sufficient capital to exploit their resources and form links
