Q

Name and explain the four roles of the astrocytes

A

They do everything exceot insulation.

1) provide physical support (they also reach other neurons)
2) Housekeeping : phagocytosis, glial scarring : the glial cells become a barrier to protect themselves from inflammation.
3) exchange chemicals to maintain homeostasis.
4) Feed neuron : Blood brain barrier.
