Drugs used for peptic ulcers?

A

PPI - Proton pump inhibitors. Inhibits gastric secretions.

Amoxicillin - antibiotic. To kill bacteria by inhibiting cell wall growth and helps heal ulcer.

Drugs used for constipation?

A

The first line of action - fruit, fibre, water, exercise.

Bulk-forming - Resembles fibre. Causes fullness, take with ++ water.

Osmotic laxative - increases water. It May cause electrolyte imbalance and cramps.

Stool softeners - This is an emollient, used to pass stool easily. It May cause diarrhoea and cramps.

Stimulants- Stimulate the bowel. It May cause cramps and electrolyte imbalance.
