What is London Dry Gin?
A neutral grain spirit flavored with botanicals and redistilled.
Typically flavored with:
- Juniper Berries (always)
- Orange & Lemon Peel
- Coriander
Also often used:
- Anise
- Cardamom
- Angelica Root
- Nutmeg
What is Genever?
The original Gin style developed by Dr. Sylvius de Bouve in 16th Century Holland.
Traditionally made with 15% malt (corn/rye/wheat distillate).
Has 3 sub-styles:
- Oude: (traditional - can be cask aged)
- Jonge: (neutral, not much malt used)
- Corenwyn: (cask aged - 51% min malt)
What is Plymouth Gin?
A fuller bodied and more highly aromatic style of Gin than London Dry Gin.
Only one producer: Plymouth, Coates, and Co.
Revived in 1996.
