GI - Vasculature of organs Flashcards
Oesophagus
- Arteries
Arteries
Thoracic - aorta and inferior thyroid
Abdominal - left gastric and inferior phrenic
Stomach
- Arteries
Arteries
Left and right gastric (lesser curve)
Left and right gastro-omental (greater curve)
Duodenum
Gastro-duodenal (CT) - proximal
Pancreatic duodenal (SMA) - distal (after entry of bile duct)
Jejenum
SMA
Ileum
SMA
Ascending colon
Ileoclic and right colic artery (branches of SMA)
Transverse colon
R colic and middle colic (SMA)
L colic (IMA)
Descending colon
L colic (IMA)
Sigmoid colon
Sigmoid arteries (IMA)
Rectum
Superior rectal artery (IMA)
Middle and inferior rectal arteries
Foregut
Oesophagus, stomach, proximal duodenum, liver, gallbladder, spleen
Midgut
Distal duodenum, jejenum, ileum, caecum, appendix, ascending colon, proximal 2/3 of transverse colon
Hindgut
Distal 1/3 transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon, rectal canal
Abdominal aorta branches (9)
-Descending anatomically
- Inferior phrenic (T12-L2) - Diaphragm
- Coeliac trunk (T12) - foregut
- Superior mesenteric (L1) - midgut
- Middle suprarenal - adrenal glands
- renal - kidneys
- Gonadal - ovaries and testes
- Inferior mesenteric (L3) - post gut
- Medial sacral - L vertebra and sacrum
- Lumbar - abdominal wall and spinal cord
Coeliac trunk branches
Left gastric = lesser curve and oesophagus - Anteriorly meeting right gastric
Splenic = spleen, pancreas and greater curvature - coiled nature, moves left and posterior
Common Hepatic = liver - Only branch to move right, dividing into right gastric ( then proper hepatic) and gastroduodenal
