What is a Royal Charter?
A Royal Charter is an instrument of incorporation, granted by The Queen, which confers independent legal personality on an organisation. Royal Charter’s nowadays are granted to bodies that work in the public interest.
Awarded in 1881 – to maintain and promote the usefulness of the profession for the public advantage
