General Pathology Flashcards
Inflamation
Host response to cellular injury causing leukocytes activation, systemic reactions and vascular response.
Signs of inflammation
Dor (pain), Rubor (redness), Calor (heat), Tumor (swelling) e Function loss
2 types of inflamation
Chronic and Acute
Acute inflammation
Fast start and short duration. Manifests by exudate and emigration of leukocytes (neutrophils).
Chronic inflammation
Longer duration inflammation. Identified by presence of lymphocytes and macrophages. Also presence of blood vessels, fibrosis and tissue necrosis.
Neutrophil or PMN Leukocyte
First cell to reach the injury region, capable of phagocytosis.
Macrophage
Second type of cell to emigrate to injury region, Capable of phagocytosis and secretion of vasoconstrictive substances.
Lymphocytes, Eosinophils and Mast cells
Provides imune response, present in both types of inflammation
