WHAT IS A FRACTURE
A break of a bone
COMPOUND FRACTURE
A break of a bone and caused a break of the skin
CLOSED FRACTURE
A break of a bone with the surrounding skin that is intact
DISPLACED FRACTURE
A break of a bone with a fracture fragments not in anatomic alignment with each other.
Non DISPLACED FRACTURE
A break in bone with no or minimal displacement of fracture fragments
TRANSVERSE FRACTURE
A break in the bone in the horizontal direction in relation to the long axis of the bone
OBLIQUE FRACTURE
A break in bone that runs at an angle to the long axis of the bone
