What are the exceptions to the jewelry part of the policy?

Note:
- Plainclothes members can wear conservative earrings.
- Some implants acceptable done by licensed medical practitioner.
- Undercover members may display facial or body piercings with Division Commander approval.

- May be extended over but not below bottom of ear, nor more than 2 inches forward of the ear.

If Armorskin and long sleeve base shirt are worn, a necktie without tie clasp shall be worn tucked underneath Armorskin without the cross-strap (p. 5 of 12).

- Class B-rank insignia: centered between shoulder seam and shoulder strap.
- Class C Super shirt- rank insignia: cut down to 1.5”x1.5” and placed 1/2” from the edge of the shoulder seam.

Member’s right side: chain-key-whistle.

What is the rank and gold braiding layout?
All braiding is 1/2” wide 1/8” spacing (except major):
- Colonel: 4 rows, 1/2” braiding, 1/8” spacing.
- Lt. Colonel: 3 rows, 1/2” braiding, 1/8” spacing.
- Major: 1 row 1/2” braiding (sandwiching) + 1 row 1/4” braiding + 1 row 1/2” braiding, 1/8” spacing.
- Det. Captain: 2 rows, 1/2” braiding, 1/8” spacing.
Note: Detective Lieutenant/ Lieutenant will have the “appropriate gold braiding already affixed.”

Key Points to Remember Regarding Salutes.
- When members are both in uniform and covered unless it would interfere with duty performance.
- To Commissioned Officers and Commissioned Officers salute to superior rank.
- Salute Governor, President, and VP.
- Applicable to other police agencies and Armed Forces.

Upon entering the office of Major (and higher), a member shall remove their cover and stand at attention.

- Facing the music (unless the National Flag is displayed); and

- Governor’s order; OR
- Office of Superintendent order (does not say Colonel).

- Memorial Day: until noon, then raised.

- Off-Duty Death: 20 members minimum
- Death of Immediate Family Member of an Active Member: 4 members provided by Station/Section/Unit to cover calling hours, funeral, and procession.
- Retired Members: 2 members from DFS.
- Active Public Safety Officers: Colonel SHALL determine killed in the LOD.
