Ethnicity - young white and Hispanic males, AA from poor socioeconomic backgrounds
Family hx of gastric cancer, Menetrier’s disease, intestinal metaplasia
H pylori infection
Low intake of fruits and vegetables
Smoking
Protective foods
garlic, carotenoids and lycopene, fish, fruits, noherbal tea, cruciferous vegetables, quercetin from apples and yellow onions
Vitamins
Vitamin B6 and riboflavin should be included
Treament with 50 micrograms selenium, 30 miligrams Vitamin E, and 15 miligrams beta-carotene to decrease mortality from gastric cancer
Mitomycin C
Cytotoxic drug - may cause fever, n/v, anorexia, and stomatitis

anorexia, nausea, sore mouth, taste changes, vomiting. Add thiamine. Leucovorin often used with.Gl
imatinib (Gleevec)
useful in GIST, n/v side effects. srinks tumors by more tan half with minimal side effects
Sunitinib (Sutent)
useful in stomach cancer when imatinib isn’t effective
