Block Valve Stations

A

First line of protection for pipeline. The operator can isolate any segment of pipeline (like BOPs)

Q

gas gathering steps

A
  1. Dehydration: removal of H20
  2. Removal ofSulfur (H2S & other corrosives)
  3. Pressure increased w/compressors (for pipeline transport)
  4. Friction reduced by intermediate compressors every 10-40 km
  5. Pressure& flow data transmitted to control stations for safety & quality

Q

LNG steps

A
  1. Naturalgas pipeline to liquefaction plant
  2. Water, CO2,Sulfur removed → pure CH4
  3. Gas cooled to -162◦C to change it to liquid
  4. LNG is transported in insulated, double-hulled ship and kept at -162◦C & low pressure
  5. Some of the LNG changed back to gas to fuel ship
  6. When the ship arrives at the regasification terminal, LNGpumped into double-walled tanks
  7. It’s reheated,pipeline to customers

Q

what is an FPSO?

A

FPSOs are used for preliminary processing and storage of oil.

They receive oil from nearby platforms, process them, and store them.

Later, the oil and gas are offloaded onto a tanker or transported through pipelines, but this is very costly

Do you know what processing is done? Water, oil, and gas are separated.
