GALATIANS 4 Flashcards
And I say, for as long as
the heir is a child/minor
he differs in no way from a slave
although he is Lord of all
but is under guardians and managers
until the time appointed by the father
in this way, we also
when we were minors
(we) were enslaved/were slaves
under the elements of the world
But when the fulfilment of time had come
God sent forth His son
born of a woman
born under law
(in order) that he might redeem those under law
that we might receive adoption
now, because/since you are sons
God sent out the spirit of His son
into our hearts, crying
Abba, Father
so that you are no longer a slave but a son
you are a son, and also an heir because of/through God
However formerly when/since you did not know God
you were enslaved to those which by nature are not gods
but now, knowing God
or rather being known by God
how do you turn back again
to the weak and poor elements
οἷς πάλιν ἄνωθεν δουλεύειν θέλετε;
to which you want to be enslaved once again?
you are observing days and months and seasons and years
I fear for you lest somehow
I have laboured in vain for you
become as I am
since I also became as you re
I beg of you, brothers
you have done me no wrong
and you know that
through the weakness of the flesh
I originally preached the good news to you
καὶ …
and you have neither despised nor disdained
