wide BOS - hips abducted, flexed, ER increased step width small steps no hip extension whole foot initial contact reduced single stance time UL high guard position excessive lumbar lordosis normal to fall multiple times a day minimal AP balance - will fall forwards/backwards

base becomes narrower - reduced hip abduction achieve more hip extension heel strike more consistent high cadence genu varum begins to resolve increased stability reduced stiffness and co-contraction

3-7 years (mature)
A
3-4 yrs - joint angles resemble adult pattern develop an arm swing heel strike and loading response more constant reduced heel eversion at 4 yrs = genu valgum at max
7 yrs - adult gait increased step length increased cadence increased velocity increased single stance time
